The Abruzzo region, a remote area in the heart of the Apennines, is famed for its natural beauty and has three large national parks: Gran Sasso-Laga, Maiella and Abruzzo. The region offers varied landscapes and old cities and villages in the mountains, which often are bewitchingly beautiful and untouched by time.
Molise is a mountain region. But the mountains are not as harsh and high here as in the northern Abruzzo region. From the cottages it is great to go to the beach for the day, on the Adriatic Sea.
In winter Abruzzo and Molise are paradise for skiers. Its rich and varied panorama offers several ski resorts both for sport enthusiasts and beginners. For those into langlauf there is a large array of routes. The highest spots of the Apennines are also a true pleasure for other sporty types. From your holiday home you can go biking, mountain biking and walking.
The main national park is Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo, where a population of brown bears and wolves lives. It is also a splendid walking area. Although the Abbruzzo region (still) is unknown as walking area, it is definitely worth it to go on a long walk from your holiday home. These regions are excellent for mountain climbing too. Besides all this, the coast offers various possibilities too. You can visit the beach from your holiday home, go windsurfing, sailing or canoeing. In short, Abruzzo/Molise have a lot to offer you, even though they are still unknown.
