Destination Barcelona Maresme Coast, Spain

Get a taste of Barcelona, a lively metropolis where many will have a great time. There is much to admire for culture enthusiasts, but it’s also great for shopping and eating out. And it has a very relaxed atmosphere! Parade across the Ramblas, walk through the narrow old lanes of the Barrio Gótico district, take a look at the harbour, and visit one of the many Tapas Bars.

Are you interested in architecture? You will find an abundance of interesting buildings in Barcelona, varying in style, from Gothic to Modernist. You certainly should not miss the famous buildings by Gaudí, such as the cathedral of Sagrada Família and his houses Casa Milà (La Pedrera) and Casa Batlló; a visit to Park Güell also comes highly recommended. Tip: explore the city by bike.

The Costa Maresme runs from the tourist town of Blanes to Barcelona. This coast is characterised by both long sandy beaches and small beaches, lively boulevards, and fun tourist towns, such as Arenys de Mar and Calella. Of course, this costa offers plenty of opportunities to relax (discos, restaurants, outdoor cafés, and markets) and various options for (water) sports. In the interior, you will find hills and vineyards. Alella is an important wine town in this region.
