Southern Bohemia is a popular holiday area with varied scenery, beautiful historical towns and villages, castles, numerous lakes and many opportunities for cycling and walking. Here, you will find the National Park Sumava (the Bohemian Forest), a park of great environmental value. You can make excursions in the countryside from your cottage in Bohemia. Its scenery is unspoilt, rugged and rocky and includes forests, hills, glacier lakes (remains of the Ice Age), rivers, and peat bog moors. It has a network of cycling routes and footpaths, and in winter this is a great area for a winter sports holiday.
Water sports enthusiasts can go to Lake Lipno, the largest (dam) lake of the Czech Republic and a tourist attraction. Around the lake you'll find sandy beaches and charming holiday resorts, and the lake itself is ideal for water sports. Southern Bohemia also has a rich cultural heritage. Here, you will find fabulous historical towns, such as Ceský Krumlov, Trebon and Ceské Budejovice, as well as a number of romantic castles, such as those of Hluboká nad Vltavou, Èervená Lhota and Orlik.
