The holiday homes in Umbria are centrally located or in the "Green Heart" of Italy, which is the nickname of this region. You will find colourful, varied scenery here: wide flowing green areas and, just as in Tuscany, a countryside filled with cypresses, vineyards and olive trees. This combined with interesting towns and picturesque villages, where time seems to have stood still. The cottages in Umbria are perfect for nature- and culture lovers.
In this region too you will find numerous art treasures from the past. Visit for instance Orvieto, Assisi or Perufia, or somewhere like Gubbio, Todi, Spello or Montefalco, where you can still feel the history.
You will also find the high, rugged mountain regions of the Apennines in the east with wide forests. In particular "Piano Grande", a flowering region enclosed by mountains, or Lake Trasimeno surrounded by sandy beaches.
In a region with hills, mountains, lakes and rivers it's of course not hard to find and activity to suit you. From your cottage in Umbria you can go walking, fishing and horse riding, but also kayaking, skiing or hang-gliding. But Umbria is mainly a place to unwind!
